How to Spot a Master Filter Scam in Malaysia

The red flags that show up before you get scammed on a master filter installation — not after.

Most master filter "scams" in Malaysia aren't outright fraud — they're installers who quietly cut corners in ways you can't see until the filter fails. Here's what to watch for.

A price that's dramatically below every other quote, with no explanation of why. Someone is cutting cost somewhere, and it's almost always the media you can't see. Vague answers about warranty length or what it covers — a real warranty is a specific number of years, in writing, not a verbal reassurance. No fixed after-sales pricing, or a seller who goes quiet once you ask what a future service visit would cost.

The biggest tell, though, is a seller who won't show you what's inside the unit before you buy, or who gets defensive when you ask. A legitimate installer with confidence in their media has no reason to avoid that question. If you can't get a straight, specific answer to 'what's actually inside this filter,' treat that as your answer.
